Philippines, with almost 19 different languages and at-least 99 million population. A wonderful country with a wonderful people, ika nga eh, beauty inside and out.
As someone who lives here, I can tell you hundreds of reason why I love being a Filipino and love living here.
The hospitality of the Filipinos, Foods, Rich History, Culture, Largest Island Groups in the world with 7,107 Islands, Our language, Our values, Our ethics are Our colorful heritage and so much more... In fact If I was going to die and was given a chance to live again, I'd still choose to be a Filipino and live in the Philippines. But I don't want to spoil it of course there's also a bad side like so many articles condemning it, corrupt government etc etc etc.. But that should not dragged down the pearl of the orient.
Maka-Diyos, Maka-Tao, Makakalikasan, Makabansa.
One of the line from our Patriotic oath, I'm sure each one of us have recited it during our school life.
But we taken for granted, I don't know if everyone's keeping our national pledge, I also have mistakes of my own that my country suffered from. >..<
Well each one us has the responsibility to devote ourselves from loving and caring our country. Just like what John F. Kennedy say "Don't ask what your Country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country"
So I've ask myself, “If there is one thing I can give to the Philippines, what is that gift?”
Well that one gift that pops in my mind is MY sense of pride. Being proud as a Filipino.
Being nationalistic can mean something as simple as sincerely singing the "Lupang Hinirang" with your hand over your heart as you look at the Philippine flag. It can mean patronizing local goods and delicacies, promoting tourism to foreign friends, wearing Filipino designs, and appreciating Filipino talent, Most of all, it’s about believing in what we can do as a country.
I wanna thank Globe Telecom for their
#GLOBEProjectWonderful2014 contest makes me think about what I can contribute to my own country as a citizen.
Why not ask yourself too? If there's one thing YOU can give to the Philippines, what is that gift?
Put that in the comment below.. Who knows If I win, you also get a chance winning an iPadmini 2.
